Ciel de GUM by Maison Francis Kurkdjian 70ML EDP

HOW DID WE GET HERE?

I went to visit the MFK boutique at Rue d’Alger when I was on vacation in Paris. I already owned a significant collection of MFK fragrances at this point so I asked the lovely sales associate Margot to show me something special. She presented me with this beauty and told me that this fragrance was inspired by the scent of GUM, a famous department store in Moscow.

HOW DOES THIS FRAGRANCE MAKE ME FEEL?

I have never smelt anything like this in my life. I cannot even suggest that the listed accords of amber, cinnamon, vanilla, rose and jasmine will bring you any closer to imagining what this smells like. It is an olfactory symphony that needs to be smelt to be understood. If I could compare it to a piece of music, it would be the Autumn movement within Vivaldi’s classical piece “Four Seasons”. I feel so honoured that I was given the opportunity to own this masterpiece before it was discontinued.

RATING

5 – A Life of Matrimonial MIST: Francis Kurkdjian is my favourite perfumer and this scent is a perfect example of why. This perfume is a piece of art that I will savour until the very last drop.
