Review: “Cecita” by O Boticário
INFO
Cecita by O Boticário 100ml – £25
HOW DID WE GET HERE?
When I discovered that my beloved Chloé Narcisse was discontinued I was on the hunt for a replacement. The fragrance databases suggested that this was a worthy contender. I was excited to try it until I discovered that it was sold exclusively in Brazil at O Boticário. I cursed the fact that I had actually visited the O Boticário store when I travelled to São Paulo a few years prior but didn’t feel compelled to try any of their fragrances. I eventually lucked out and managed to find a distributor of Brazilian products who had the scent in stock. As the price point was low I figured I had nothing to lose by blind-buying it.
HOW DOES THIS FRAGRANCE MAKE ME FEEL?
Ah, the cruel and ill-fated allure of nostalgia! This fragrance has the body of my beloved Chloé Narcisse but none of its soul. It’s the olfactory equivalent of receiving a Zoom call from your long-distance lover: You really appreciate the effort they make to foster intimacy and make you feel loved for afar, but you’ll always yearn for the presence of the real thing.
RATING
3 – MIST Opportunity: This is a great fragrance for the price point and I think it is an affordable way to smell elegant. However, my nostalgia for the original Narcisse makes it difficult for me to fully appreciate its beauty.
